We conducted a short interview with our lead practitioner, Angus, asking him to divulge some information on commonly asked questions, as well as things specific to his practice.
In your words, what is the difference between chiropractic and osteopathic treatments?
There are many similarities between osteopathy and chiropractic as we both aim to treat the musculoskeletal system and get it functioning at its best. Osteopathy is a form of holistic healthcare which looks at how your lifestyle, nutrition and exercise may all impact your injury as well as just the mechanical cause. Chiropractic traditionally focuses on the spine with the theory that dysfunction of the body arises from the spine and potential misalignments.
What is the most common issue you treat?
The most common issue we see in the clinic currently is neck pain and headaches. Since the pandemic the work from home lifestyle has taken over and is becoming more common, but our workstations at home haven’t caught up to speed. The movement lost from commuting has meant we spend longer periods of time at the desk with little to no movement which can contribute to headaches and neck pain.
What is your favourite treatment you offer and why?
My favourite treatment to offer is osteopathy with medical acupuncture. Acupuncture helps to relieve muscle spasms and osteopathy helps to restore movement. Add in some rehab exercises and you have the perfect combination to treat many disorders and pain points.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Helping people. We love seeing people get results they never thought they could achieve or have failed to do in the past.
What is your parting advice when people leave your studio?
Keep moving, movement is our best friend. Use it or lose it.
